Women's Leadership is Associated with Fewer Deaths During the COVID-19 Crisis: Quantitative and Qualitative Analyses of United States Governors
Published in Journal of Applied Psychology, a top-ranked OB journal, this study finds that women governors were more effective during early stages of the pandemic. It has has garnered national and global attention, cited in major outlets including Bloomberg, Forbes, The Washington Post, BBC News, Harvard Business Review, and Web MD.
The Mitigating Role of Trait Core Confidence on Psychological Distress in Entrepreneurship
Published in Applied Psychology, this study developed and validates a core confidence scale and test the hypothesis that high trait core confidence mitigates fluctuations in psychological distress for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Hustling and Hoaxing: Institutions, Modern Styles, and Yeffe Kimball’s “Native” Art
This article considers the artistic career of self-identified Osage painter Yeffe Kimball (1906–1978). Following the stylistic trends of modern American Indian painting as largely defined by non-Native critics and a male-dominated art world, Kimball’s works were accepted into major exhibits. How Kimball was able to “pass” as an American Indian artist is the core of a larger narrative—one that demonstrates and provokes critique of how her fraud took advantage of, but also contributed to strengthening, an exclusionary, devaluative settler-colonial dynamic of expropriation that continues into the present.

Finding Better Matches: Improving Image Retrieval with EFM-HOG
This joint work with Dr. Sugata Banerji and Ryan Zunker (Lake Forest College, IL) is published in the International Journal on Advances in Software (vol. 13, no 3 & 4, pp. 116- 128, 2020). In this article, we focus on the problem of image retrieval of similarly shaped objects, with the query being an object selected from a test image at run-time.
