What is Oscar Express?

Oscar Express is the name of Edgewood College Library's interlibrary loan service. When a book, chapter, article, or CD/DVD is not available through our library, you can use Oscar Express to request it from other libraries across the country.

Pro tip! When the full text of a book or article isn't available in our databases, look for a link that says: Request item via Oscar Express. Clicking it will auto-fill a form where you can request the item through our interlibrary loan service.

Who can use Oscar Express?

All currently enrolled students and currently employed staff and faculty with an active Edgewood ID.

Is there any fee for the service?

No, we do not charge for Oscar Express. Lost and extremely overdue items may incur replacement and processing fees.

How long does it take?

Books usually arrive in 5-7 business days. Articles and book chapters, which are sent electronically, take 1-3 business days on average. However, we cannot guarantee any delivery date.

How do I make a request?

Log in to your Oscar Express account with your Edgewood username and password, click the "Create request" button, fill out as much information information as you can, and then submit.

You can also create a request when you see the link "Request item via Oscar Express" in a database. After logging in with your Edgewood account, most of the form will be automatically filled out for you. How will I know when the item arrives?

We will notify you via email when your item is ready for pickup or download. You can also check the status of your requests by logging in to your Oscar Express account and clicking on the request.

Where do I pick up my book or article?

Books and CDs/DVDs are available for pickup at the Edgewood College Library's front desk.

Articles and book chapters are delivered electronically. Log in to your Oscar Express account, select the request, and then click on the PDF to view or download it. Articles stay in your Oscar Express account for 30 days. You can download the article onto your device if you need to keep it longer.

Where do I renew my item?

You can request a renewal by logging in to your Oscar Express account and clicking on renew. You can also contact us and we can request a renewal on your behalf. Not all libraries allow their items to be renewed. If the item is overdue or if you have already renewed it once, you will have to contact us to renew the item. 

Where do I return my item?

Items should be returned to the front desk at the Edgewood College Library.

My item was recalled. What does that mean?

A library may decide that they need an item back. If your item was recalled, please return it as soon as possible. We can try to request another copy from a different library if you still need it longer.
