Academic Writer is an all-inclusive writing and research software designed with APA style in mind. The library requested a free trial of Academic Writer so the Edgewood College community can try out this powerful tool completely free now through June 1st!
So, what exactly does Academic Writer have to offer? It feels a bit like having a personal writing coach working step-by-step with you on your paper! Academic Writer features tons of quick guides on APA style basics and hundreds of sample papers, tables, and references to help you get more comfortable with writing in APA.
If you've ever used Grammarly or another free reference generator, or if you use the library's Refworks, you probably appreciate a software that makes citations easy! Like these tools, Academic Writer can generate citations for you, saving lots of time and effort when it comes to your References page.
Academic Writer also features its own text editor – you can actually write your paper in the software just like you would in Word or Google Docs. You can choose from several template options for different types of essays, or start from scratch. Either way, Academic Writer's text editor software features built-in tutorial popups that will guide you through every step of your writing process.
While Academic Writer does focus on supporting a traditional college paper writing experience, it knows a few other tricks too! You can work together on a group paper by adding others to a project, and write or edit together in real time. In addition to academic papers, it also supports professional essays with different formatting requirements, whether for submission to a peer-reviewed journal or in another professional research context. For those performing original research and studies, Academic Writer can even help you track your tests, measures, and study participants.
The library's free trial of Academic Writer will be active now through June 1st.
Update, June 1, 2024: Since the trial has expired, we are currently evaluating the possibility of subscribing during the next fiscal year.
