Are you new to the area and looking for a way to explore more of Wisconsin? Need a break from studying and some fresh air? My husband and I are somewhat new to the state and we always like to find ways to go see new-to-us things. We used the opportunity of Labor Day Weekend to check out the Devil’s Lake activity kit from the library and go see what this state park had to offer. We were not disappointed!
Included in the activity kit are two guidebooks. One has information about a variety of parks in the state, including Devil’s Lake and the other is exclusively about Devil’s Lake. The books include information about park history, what to expect, different activities available, and some interesting information about the geological structures you will encounter on your hikes (things like how and why the rock structures form the way they did). Between the guidebooks and the information linked on the provided bookmarks I was able to fully plan the day: figure out that our doggo was able to come with us, get an idea of which trail we wanted to go on, how much it would cost, water-craft rentals, and to prepare for crowds.
New to the area or not, Devil’s Lake is worth exploring. The library can help! Grab your water bottle and some bug spray, the kit even provides a great backpack to carry it. Current Edgewood students can come to the front desk and check out our Devil’s Lake activity kit.
