Photos for Archives month

October is American Archives Month!

As the College Archivist since 2005, I have been responsible for managing the historic records, photos, documents, and artifacts of Edgewood College. As the college community celebrates its 90th year, I have selected three images from the college archives to demonstrate the early years and the continuous development of our college.

You will find images and stories from the first thirty years:

Six women, standing along a building

Several members of the class of 1935, Edgewood Junior College

The second thirty years:

Deke Slayton talks with students

Early astronaut Deke Slayton visits with students in 1971, at newly coeducational Edgewood College.

And, from our last thirty years:

Hall full of graduates at commencement

2016 Graduation at the Monona Terrace Convention Center

The story of the Edgewood campus and the first 75 years of college growth and development can be found in the book Phoenix From the Fire, by Mary Paynter, O.P., which is available online, and for checkout at the library.

You can also explore more college history in the library's digital collection: Edgewood College History.
