Two students playing dungeons and dragons

I find myself standing at the darkened entrance to a cave, sword in hand, and look at the ragtag group with me. I have no idea what skills they have. We were all hired to escort a delivery to the city for a rich client. It was just supposed to be a simple delivery job! We got ambushed on the road. Now what lies ahead? The man on my left sends a small glowing globe into the cave entrance. He’s a mage, then. The good thing? We can see now. The bad thing? If there were any enemies in that cave, we just lost our element of surprise...

It’s the start of a grand adventure for you and your friends; one that you can have while eating your favorite food in the comfort of your own home. Dungeons and Dragons is, perhaps, the most widely known of the tabletop role playing games. If you’ve never played, you’re missing out. I can tell you that as someone who never had an interest in playing before I was roped into a group for the first time and ended up with life-long friends and great memories. I could go on about the benefits of playing; how Dungeons and Dragons encourages you to keep your imagination active (especially important when you’re getting bogged down in less creative assignments); how playing encourages problem solving, working with a group, and developing relationships. I could even tell you about how teachers are using Dungeons and Dragons to help students learn interdisciplinary studies and develop social-emotional skills. That’s all very interesting, but the most important thing is that playing Dungeons and Dragons with your friends is just plain fun!

Getting started can be hard, the books are many and expensive, and trying to figure out the game mechanics and how to do anything is confusing. If you don’t have an experienced player, it’s almost impossible. Fortunately, we have a solution! With your Edgewood I.D. card you can check out an activity kit at the front desk that makes your first adventure possible. The bag has absolutely everything a group of players needs to get started including the adventure and pre-created characters. All you need is a couple willing friends and your adventure is waiting. Come take a look and find a new way to spend time with your friends.
