BadgerLink

Recently, four new databases were added to our collection. All of these (and several others) are available to us courtesy of BadgerLink, a project from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The goal of BadgerLink is "to provide access to quality online information resources for Wisconsin residents in cooperation with the state's public, school, academic, and special libraries and Internet Service Providers."

Access Newspaper Archive
Access Newspaper Archive contains tens of millions of searchable newspaper pages, dating as far back as the 1700s. It is your gateway to searching and reading historical newspapers online. NewspaperARCHIVE.com, the world's largest archive of online newspapers, is providing this valuable research tool. Use the archive to view, save and print full-page newspapers from around the world.

African American Biographical Database
Billed as "the largest electronic collection of biographical information on African Americans, 1790-1950," this database brings together in one resource the biographies of thousands of African Americans, many not to be found in any other reference source. These biographical sketches have been carefully assembled from biographical dictionaries and other sources.

LitFINDER
LitFinder is international in scope, covers all time periods, and contains a wealth of primary literature content, including more than 126,500 full-text poems, 850,000 poem citations and excerpts, 5,000 full-text short stories, 2,800 full-text essays, 1,800 full-text speeches, and 1,000 full-text plays. LitFinder also includes biographies, work summaries, photographs, and a glossary. A subject navigator provides over 10,000 subject headings, and basic and advanced search modes allow users to search by keyword, author, subject, work title, work date, nationality, gender, timeline, and more.

TeachingBooks
TeachingBooks is a portal to thousands of online resources useful for exploring children's and young adult books and their authors. It provieds access to useful materials and programs (short movies, audio book readings, book discussion guides, and more) that add a multimedia dimension to reading in the classroom, library, and home. These resources are also perfect for lesson planning, author studies, and professional development to support the many ways books can be integrated into all subject areas in the K–12 curriculum.

You will find links to all of these databases on the library's Databases by Title page, as well as on the appropriate Resources by Subject pages.
