The Children Of Hurin by J.R.R. Tolkien
The first complete edition of this chronicle of Middle Earth's First Age. It tells the story of Hurin's children Turin and Nienor with all the mastery you have come to expect from Tolkien.
The Last Mimzy by Henry Kuttner
A collection of short stories by Kuttner. It is believed he wrote more than 170 of them before his early death. One of the stories from this collection was recently made into a major motion picture.

Although a work of non-fiction, it seems to fit in with those above as its essays explain the origins of 15 myths, including dragons, unicorns, mermaids, werewolves and the like.
