The art of Ruth Grotenrath
September 14, 2006
Like her husband Schomer Lichtner, Ruth Grotenrath was a well known Wisconsin artist who began as a WPA muralist, painting in the regionalist style. However, her art then took a turn to the more abstract -- due to her interest in Japanese art and the paintings of Matisse and Van Gogh -- and more colorful.
The Oscar Rennebohm Library is currently hosting an exhibit of paintings by Ruth Grotenrath. Paintings in the exhibit are on loan from the Kohler Foundation Collection and will be on display until Saturday, October 28th.
