Samuel Mazzuchelli, a man who is still quoted today
November 21, 2006
Father Samuel Mazzuchelli is quoted in a new book purchased by the Oscar Rennebohm Library.
We've just received a new book on the paintings and lithographs by mid-nineteenth century artist John Caspar Wild, and artist who made a living producing panoramas of Philadelphia, Cincinnati and the Mississippi River Valley, John Caspar Wild : painter and printmaker of nineteenth-century urban America.
On page 95, Father Mazzuchelli provides a written description of Davenport, Iowa in 1843, one year before Wild arrived on the scene to produce several tableaux of that region.
