November 2, 2005
In honor of Samuel Mazzuchelli's 200th birthday year-long celebration, The Oscar Rennebohm Library, in partnership with the Center for Diversity and the Dominican Mission Office wish to declare November, 2005 as
Indian Mound Awareness Month
We at Edgewood have an important and enviable responsibility, that of being stewards of these incredible earth works that grace our campus -- our Indian mounds. While we seem to be generally be doing a fine job at this, our most dazzling mound, the thunderbird found between the Oscar Rennebohm Library and DiRicci Hall is developing a path across its east wing, which is ruining it.
So please, do not use the path through the prairie that connects DiRicci Hall with the Oscar Renenbohm Library. To do so is to take part in the destruction of this sacred and ancient work of art.
When you think about it, being party to the destruction of a sacred work of art isn't a very "Edgewood" thing to do now is it?
